(wrote this two days ago but couldn’t upload until now)
Okay. So I know I haven’t written in over a week. Or two weeks? I can’t keep track anymore…
Yeah, so the cruise has ended. I’m kinda recovering from PCD: Post Cruise Depression :)
Yes, that’s how great it was. I already miss the people from the cruise so much :(
The cruise: It was amazing. They had these photos and paintings in the hallways, there were some very nice photographs, one of gas stations (incredible how someone can make those beautiful XD) and one of a street: the photographer used a really cool technique, I’ll have to try that sometime: he made a picture of a street during the day, then left the camera in the exact same position, and took the same picture at night. Then he merged the two. It gave the picture an eerie sort of glow.
The first place we stopped at was Labadee, on Haiti. It was nice, but it was a very touristy place, you didn’t meet he “real” people. But it was a nice place to swim.
The second day we stopped in Jamaica. It was so fucking boring. We went back on the ship after 10 minutes. It was just this big building with shops selling loads of crap.
The third day we landed in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. That was cool. I bought a t-shirt that’s black and white, and in the sun it becomes colourful :D I also bought a nail polish that’s clear, and in the sun becomes red. And I saw a chicken on the street! It was kinda cute :) I videotaped it, like so many other things. I think I’m just gonna make three videos at the end of my vacation: 1. the cruise, 2. the road trip and 3. Hamptons and NYC.
The fourth stop was in Cozumel, Mexico. OMFG. It was sooo much fun^^ I’ll have to start at the beginning of the cruise to explain why.
Ok, so the first night, the day we got on the ship, was okay, maybe a little boring, but I was so stunned by the hugeness of the ship, so I didn’t notice. Then the second day I met some cool people: the first four I met were Austin, Jonathan, Chris and Raph. Austin is from California, and the three guys are from New Jersey. We had a lot of riding up and down in the same elevator (yes the ship has elevators :D) and asking random people who got on if they “liked to dance”, and then we’d turn on the music and dance around them :D Some people danced with us!! That was great…
Then later I also met some other people: Kelly from Canada, Kaitlyn and Caitlin from New York, two girls from Long Island, Scott and Nicolas from New Jersey…
Somehow Austin, Kelly, Kaitly, Caitlin and I ended up talking about Desperate Housewives which really brought us together :) Funny… but we couldn’t remember the name of the girl who used to be Julies best friend, then moved away and now can’t remember anything. SO we went up to my stateroom and looked it up on the internet: it was Dylan! So because of that we ended up having an hour of girltalk, which we later named “GTT” (girl talk time). We did that every night, and start out with everyone answering a question like “what was your most awkward moment, cutest moment with a guy” etc. and we got to know each other pretty well. Unfortunately Caitlin left on the second day… so we continued with the four that were left. From our second GTT we always ordered cheese and cookies from room service (which was free :D). It was the best… but it kinda annoyed the guys. Always at twelve we were like “ok, GTT!” and they were like “Noo not fucking GTT! Come on…”.
But it kinda made it more fun :P
And one night Austin and I (the other two had to go back to their rooms at one…) stayed up till 4.30 in the morning, telling stories, laughing and acting drunk even though we weren’t XD It was so much fun… I stated that, if you take any word, add a “the” in the beginning and an “s” at the end, you have a rock band name. So we invented rock band names for hours. “the awkward unicorns”, “the walls”, “the F’s”. We even invented two rival gangs: The pads and the tampons XD That night was unbelievable…
But yeah, Mexico: we, Kelly, Austin and I, went to Señor Frog’s, it was so much fun :) We had nachos (there’s a whole inside story to nacho cheese… Austin REALLY loves nacho cheese…), and then one time they put on music and the waiters came to get us and started dancing with us! With sombreros and everything XD We soo made their day :) And then the song “Bleeding Love” came on, and I videotaped Austin and Kelly playback singing to it. :) And after that the song “Love in this Club” came on and we got up and started dancing to it and changed the lyrics to “love in this restaurant”, and the waiters took pictures of us with their cell phones o.O which was a little creepy… but they were ok.
After Señor Frog’s we went shopping. And we saw these marble seahorse-unicorns everywhere! Like little statues of them! So we named them seaunis :D And we are now fans of seaunis! We even made a little song for them, but I’m not gonna write that here ;) And I bought a purse made of candy wrappers, which was originally 20$ but I got it for 15$ :D He was like 20$ And I was 15$, he: 18, I: FIFTEEN! And he was like, okay 15$!
Yeah. And the guys bought Mexican wrestling masks XD So funny… and once as a punishment for silent football (explain later), Kelly had to go wrestle Jonathan in the middle of the promenade. XD Epic… (the promenade is like the atrium of the ship with shops and cafes and restaurants. And a lot of people :)
Silent football: you pass an imaginary football around by clapping on your thigh once or twice (depends on if you want to pass it to the person next to you, or the person next to that one.) or by pointing to someone (but a “Point” can be rejected). The rules that make it fun are: You cannot show your teeth during the whole game. There’s a captain and only he/she can speak at will, everyone else has to get permission to speak from the captain by putting their hand on their head, wait to be called and then ask for permission to speak. You’re not allowed to cover your mouth, and you cannot cross your hands. And you have three lives, everytime you do something wrong you lose one, and the one that looses all of them first has to do a punishment. And it’s a childish game, but SO MUCH FUN XD especially because you can’t show your teeth…
And there was a club, but we didn’t really go there… we had enough to do. :)
And there was a pizza place were you could get free pizza! Almost 24 hours! Till three in the morning :)
And after the first two days you could really feel the ship rocking back and forth… it was scary at first but I got used to it :)
And remember the nail polish I bought? Well, most of it spilled. In the bathroom of the ship. (which was tiny by the way…). But it’s ok, I bought a new better one. An electric blue :D
And on the cruise we tried the “Name that tune” game, for rock songs and I only knew three of 20 o.O Buuut, I won the harry potter trivia :D There were only three teams but still :) I won three photo albums :)
And oh god… the love and marriage game, so funny! There was a newlywed couple (married 11 days) a middle aged couple (31 years) and an old couple (51 years). The middle aged couple was fat, I’m sorry to say it but it’s true and they were so funny… When the cruise director (who was the moderator as well, he’s the Australian I couldn’t understand in the beginning during the drill. He was really funny too, him and “phil” the other guy helping him. I kinda miss that “Good morning, good morning” wake up call :)) asked the guy “what is your wife’s sexiest piece of clothing”; he said “nipple rings” and everyone was like “seriously?!” And when the women came back in, the cruise director gave her a hug and was like “omg yes it’s true!!” to the crowd XD SO funny… and the old couple was so cute :)
And the ice skating show was great as well… incredible, an ice show on the ocean :D
There was just so much going on. I’ll probably remember more in the next few days and just post it in my next blogs entries…
Yeah… I’m sad the cruise is over. It was so great. Everyone was so nice and I met great people. I really miss them :( I mean, we were together 24/7 and suddenly they’re gone… but I’m gonna see some of them in NYC in a week or so :)
So after we got off the cruise we got a car in Miami and started driving up towards Fort Lauderdale, were we stayed at the Monte Carlo Motel. And right after getting there we found out that my great-aunt Mary died on the first night of the cruise :( What was strange is that she died around the time I was down on deck four at the railing, watching the waves and listening to music… It was kind of unfair, we were going to visit her only a few days later…
We went up to Port St. Lucie, were my aunt mary had lived and my other great aunt and uncle live, and met the rest of the family who came there too. I met my uncle Toni and his wife Nita for the first time! They were nice and he was funny :) So we styed with our family and had breakfast with them the next day, went to visit my aunt mary’s grave, went to a mall (I bought an Abercrombie sweatshirt the day before, and on that day a t-shirt, a dress/tee, two oversized mens shirts that I’m gonna wear as dresses with leggings :)), and then ate at this BBQ place, with even more family members.
The next day we went back to Fort Lauderdale and met my moms cousin and her daughter at this great Mexican restaurant “Carlos and Peppe’s”. Then later we went back to their house, and I went out with my cousin Tiana. I had so much fun :) She took me to her friends house. There were five guys there and we were the only two girls, and I played Beer-pong for the first time! :) Even though I don’t like beer that much… oh well. Of course my cousin and I lost because we were playing against the guys… And I drank 5 of the beers and she only one, because she had to drive us back home. When I got back to the hotel I fell asleep real fast as you can imagine :) Ah… was fun. I want to go visit her at spring break.
The next day we drove up north and stopped at Amelia island near Jacksonville and wow. It was soo beautiful. That little hotel was so cute, I’ll have to upload pictures… and it was right by the beach! And there were almost no people around there. It was so nice and quiet. We stayed there two nights, and after the first we went to the fort clinch park. That was really nice, the trees were hanging in over the road and it was like a little tent. And we saw huge butterflies and strange animals in the rear view mirror. Nobody knew what that was o.O It was a mother with it’s baby. It was a little bigger than a cat, had thin long legs, a hunched back, like the hind legs were higher than the front ones, it had a thin long snout and big pointy ears and it was black.
Anywhoo
After the second night we drove up to North Carolina for 6 hours. I kinda liked that, I slept for about 2 hours. And we had to drive up this really rocky country road. Hehe… that was fun :D
The reason we drove up there is that we went to visit an old friend of my dads from work. He and his wife moved to the States 15 years ago or so. They were interesting people. She’s a seamstress and he’s a former architect and an artist. I really liked his paintings, he has a website, maybe there are some of the paintings on there: www.wernerhaker.com
I really liked his studio. It had paint splatter and all that. A lot of brushes… It made me want to have my own studio :) And what’s funny is that he too feels like a different person when he speaks English than when he speaks German. Like, I feel more “business” and rational when I speak German, and more artistic and “feely” when I speak English… Yeah, was interesting talking to them. They have a dog too, a female pit bull who was rescued from being abused. She was very shy and scared easily…
So the next day (today, 888), we drove down a little again, to Atlanta, where we’re staying with my aunt Lori and her husband Kenny. We’re watching the opening ceremony of the Olympics right now. The beginning was pretty amazing, but now’s the boring part with all the countries marching in… We’re waiting for USA and Switzerland :)
I wrote up more topics to write about in my little red booklet, but I’m gonna save those for the next few days :) Hope I didn’t bore you too much if you read all of this…
Gonna be staying here for two nights and then we’re gonna head up to Washington.
